What if the area experiencing discomfort is not where the tension originally began?

In this episode of the Beauty of Breathing Podcast, Renata Nehme explores craniosacral therapy with licensed massage therapist Hilary Bilkis. Their conversation reveals how gentle, hands-on therapy may support the nervous system, connective tissues, cranial mobility, and whole-body balance.

They discuss:

✨ What craniosacral therapy is and what a session typically involves
✨ How it differs from traditional massage therapy
✨ Why tension in one area may be connected to restrictions elsewhere in the body
✨ Signs that babies may benefit, including feeding difficulties, torticollis, facial tension, arching, and discomfort during tummy time
✨ How craniosacral therapy may complement care before and after a tongue-tie release
✨ Its potential role in supporting facial symmetry, mobility, sleep, and nervous system regulation
✨ How physical and emotional experiences may be held within the body
✨ Why children experiencing anxiety or emotional dysregulation may benefit from a whole-body evaluation
✨ What to consider when choosing a craniosacral practitioner

Hilary explains that craniosacral therapy uses light touch while the patient remains fully dressed on a treatment table. Rather than following the same routine for everyone, the practitioner listens to the body and follows areas of tension, restriction, or imbalance.

She also highlights the importance of care surrounding a frenectomy. Preparing the connective tissues before the procedure and addressing residual tension afterward may help support mobility and function as the body adapts to its new range of movement.

Hilary Bilkis is a licensed massage therapist with more than 20 years of experience. Trained through the Upledger Institute, she combines craniosacral therapy, visceral mobilization, myofascial release, and somatoemotional work to create an individualized approach for each client.

From infants experiencing feeding challenges to adults living with chronic tension, this conversation shows how subtle therapeutic input may have effects throughout the body.

🎧 Settle in for a thoughtful exploration of how gentle touch may help the body find greater ease, movement, and balance.
