Cynthia graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Physical Therapy, and from Temple University with a Masters in Education. She served as a commissioned officer in the US Navy, as a staff physical therapist at Annapolis Naval Hospital. She then served as a chief physical therapist at Philadelphia Naval Hospital.
